    Crimean War Period Russian Gunner’s Powder Flask

    Possibly attributable to a Naval Gunner, the Flask is roughly 39cm in overall length, the polished horn body with brass mounts, the sprung nozzle still operating well and with two brass loops which once held a lanyard.

    The lower shaped brass collar is engraved No.38.11. in a Cyrillic style. Below the collar is a threaded oak plug for the filling opening.

    An attractive display piece widely used by the Russian Navy in the defence of the port and Bay at Sebastopol.
