About this item
A lovely example of the K98 bayonet, maker. E. & F. Hörster, Solingen, ‘5490’ stamp to the ricasso. Scabbard marked 7597, Richard A. Herder, Solingen, with acceptance stamps.
Double Waffen Amt stamps to the upper part of the pommel, which also retains all of its blued finish. The rifle retaining button system working correctly. Bakelite grips are undamaged. Two digits in the serial number on the blade appear to have been officially overstamped, the old numbers can be seen under the new, and the original number is still shown on the release button. I can only summarise that this was amended whilst in service as making the changes later would make no sense. This a really nice example
