    About this item

An incredible pair of original 1940s CC41 marked men's double monk strap shoes complete with crepe soles.

This style of shoe was popular during the 1940s but are very rare to have survived today. They are a much more flamboyant style than regular oxford or brogue shoes worn by men during this period. They were made as part of the CC41 utility clothing scheme which ran from 1941 until 1949. It was introduced to make sure that good quality clothing was available at an affordable price to everyone, no matter what their class or occupation. Today, anything carrying this logo has become highly collectable.

The shoes feature a russet brown coloured leather upper which fasten with two straps via a single prong metal buckle which features a gold finish. The soles are crepe and appear to have hardened which may affect being able to wear the shoes. Inside the shoes the brand name of 'Tecnic' is marked to the insole as is the shop name of 'Milward & Sons Ltd'. The interior is also marked with the size of 7 and the CC41 logo.

The shoes display well with no serious flaws or defects the leather or similar and all the stitching appears strong. These are a vintage, pre-worn item though which may have issues commensurate with age.

A very attractive pair of men's shoes from the 1940s with the all important utility mark to the interior.
