    About this item

An original set of women's British military Drill Green Overalls which are dated 1964 and in a size 3.

This pattern of overalls was introduced in the early 1960s and was intended to replace the earlier denim overalls. They are made from a green coloured cotton drill and feature removable revolving shank buttons, as were often used for military and civilian workwear in the mid Century period. They feature a stand and fall collar, epaulettes, a patch pocket to the chest and a larger map pocket to the side of the right leg.

Inside the overalls there is a hanging loop at the neck as well as an interior pocket. The original label is also still present and bears the title 'Coveralls, Woman's, Green' below which is the size of 3 which is intended to fit  37" to 38" chest and up to a height of 5' 3". The maker's name of 'Moore, Taggart & Co Ltd is also present as is the 1964 date and War Department broad arrow marking.

When laid flat the overalls measure -

    Chest - 19 1/2"
    Waist - 16 1/2"
    Inside arm - 14 3/4"
    Outside arm - 22"
    Inside leg - 25"

The overalls are in reasonable wearable condition with signs of wear and use. There is wear to the front below the breast pocket including holes as illustrated in the pictures. Please take time to study these and bear in mind that they are a vintage, pre-worn item which may have small flaws commensurate with age. The damage has been reflected in the price.

An original pair of 1960s overalls, complete with their original label and a clear date.
