About this item
A nice original British Army 1903 Pattern leather waist belt which has been modified by the original owner.
This style of belt was popular in both World Wars and were also worn by ex-servicemen working in garages and similar. They have numerous nicknames including 'Hate Belt' and 'Trophy Belt'. Some soldiers made these by collecting different cap badges and buttons and wearing one in the army, or at work after leaving the army, would have marked out the wearer as an old soldier.
The belt itself is a standard British Army 1903 pattern leather waist belt which was issued throughout the Great War and the Second World War. The original owner has added an extra section of the leather behind the buckle which is riveted to the original belt. He has also added a brass retaining loop to hold the tail of the belt in place when fastened as well as numerous cap badges and buttons which are all pre 1953 examples. The leather finish on the belt has worn around these which is testament to how long they have been on the belt.
The belt is a larger size and measures 41" from buckle to hole.
The belt is in well used condition as can be seen in the pictures. It shows signs of wear and use etc so please take time to study the pictures before purchasing.
A nice original hate belt which is a hard to find larger size.
