    About this item

A very nice original US Navy G-1 dating from the late 1940s and made as part of the first contracted of this pattern produced, 55-J-14.

This pattern of jacket was the successor of the wartime M422A flying jacket which was issued to air crews in the United State Navy. This early example of the G-1 which was introduced in 1947 and would have been the pattern issued during the Korean War. It is made from a dark brown coloured goatskin and features patch pockets to the front which fasten with buttons. The lefthand pocket features a small pen pocket. The front of the jacket fastens with a 'Talon' branded zipper which retains its leather pull tab. The rear features a half belt and the knitted cuffs and waistband are another notable feature. The interior of the jacket is lined and there is a single interior pocket which fastens with a press stud. The original fur collar is still present and features the letters 'USN' stencilled to the rear.

The jacket is in good condition and appears to have seen some careful restoration at some stage. The pocket buttons are replacements as are the knitted cuffs and waistband most likely. The leather is in fantastic condition and the jacket is very wearable and display extremely well.

A very nice early example of this pattern of jacket with some great details.
