    About this item

For sale is a Early Post WW2 Publication titled “Saved to tell others, The Story Of The United Nations Whiteness Team.” This was published in 1947 and written by team members, edited by Harry Young, Foreword by Thos B Rees.

The foreword states;   “Ordinary men and women with an extraordinary message; united not only to defeat a common enemy. but united in a burning desire to bring the message of life to the people of Europe. Such men as these were the United Nations Forces Witness Team who have made such an irresistible appeal to the Christian people of London. Their first visit to the Westminster Central Hall Campaign was a memorable occasion. If I had to describe my impression of the team in a few words I would say efficiency, a great zeal for the Lord and deep sincerity. What appealed to me so much about their methods was the lack of anything slipshod or haphazard in their programme. The Team, consisting of about fifty men and women from all over the world-the varying uniforms, all shades of British and American khaki, Air Force blue and Naval uniforms-came on to the platform in perfect order. As I sat in the gallery, having a bus-man's holiday, I was greatly impressed with the power of such a corporate witness of youth. The simple announcement that they were to be present on this occasion had been enough to cause acute embarrassment to our stewards who had reluctantly to turn hundreds of people away, as there was just no room for them- "No, not so much as about the gallery steps!" The singing of a quartette of perfectly blended voices was not only a great attraction but was a means of conveying a very real message. During the programme a number of men and women from all round the globe gave one-minute testimonies, saying what Christ meant to them, each one having the same burden: "What He has done for me, He can do for you." The theme song of the Team is "We're Saved, Saved to Tell Others" and I realised afresh as I sat listening, what an unanswerable argument to the youth of the land is the personal witness of a young man or woman who does not preach or exhort, but who says "I know, because it happened to me." The youth of Britain to-day is looking for sincerity and reality. It has no use for a Religion that is only a form without up-to-date power. But in this band of young people, officers, privates, veterans, new recruits from all over the world, a challenge was issued, having no uncertain sound. Theirs was an up-to-date Christianity and one that worked. I join with hundreds of others in rejoicing that their message is presented in this permanent form and in saying, 'Thank God for every 66 remembrance of the United Nations Forces Witness Team." THOMAS B. REES.”   This will be sent via royal mail 1st class signed for and dispatched within two working days.
