About this item
An original pair of men's brown oxford shoes which were made by Simpson of Piccadilly during the 1940s.
This style of shoes was highly popular with men during the 1930s, 1940s and beyond and is still a classic today. They were also worn by officers of the British Army who bought their own uniform - Simpsons were one of the most prolific suppliers of officer's kit during WW2. The shoes are made from a brown coloured leather and feature a toe cap along with 5 stamped eyelets through which are fitted laces which appear to be original period examples. The soles are leather whilst the heels are rubber examples which are maker marked 'Jubilee'.
Inside the shoes feature the style name of 'Empiric by Simpson' to the insole which is typical of the period. The maker's name is again repeated on the sidewall as is the size of 6.
The shoes are in reasonable condition with some signs of wear and age. They display well and whilst they may be wearable they are sold as a display item.
These could make a good addition to a British officer's kit display or civilian outfit as they are very typical original shoes for the wartime era.
