USAAF shoes, winter flying, type A-6A
By Bristolite. Size small. Classic shearling 'heavy shoe' with a zipped front and thick rubber sole enveloping the entire foot area to increase water resistance. Designed to be worn with or without a regulation shoe and also electrical shoes and inserts such as the D-1. With factory fitted buckled straps at the instep and upper edge to prevent them falling off during bail out or when walking in mud. The leather is generally in very good condition bar minor rubbing and wear. It remains supple and is free of the crazing, peeling and damage common to these boots. Good straps. Unfortunately the original zips have not faired so well. The right zip works but is damaged towards the bottom and the left zip is currently not moving but might be freed with careful attention. The bottom of the same zip has some corrosion. The rubber soles and 'galosh' sections of both boots are complete, undamaged and have a little flexibility remaining. Lovely thick fur pile linings. Labels on each zip tongue and fading AAF decals to each boot. Not for wearing but they do display well as can seen in the photographs. In A1 condition these would be £400+! Stock code B23632.
