    An original World War One medal pair, correctly named as follows;

    2823 PTE. W. A. PAYNE. 4-LOND. R.

    William Payne was entitled to a 15 Star trio, having arrived in Egypt on 24 August 1915.  He was killed in action in August 1916 (13th on CWGC, 14th on MIC), and is buried in Hebuterne Military Cemetery. He lived on Loxley Road in Wandsworth Common.
