An original World War One era medal trio, comprising the 1914/15 Star, British War Medal and Victory Medal, with good length of original ribbon.
Named as follows;
1914/15 Star - S-1770 PTE J. SMITH. SEA:HIGHRS
BWM and Vic - S-1770 PTE. J. SMITH. SEA. HIGHRS.
James Smith's entitlement to the 15 trio is confirmed on the MIC, having arrived in France on 9 July 1915.
He is noted 'Soliders Died' as being born at St. Leonards in Edinburgh, having previously served with the Kings Own Scottish Borderers under service number 12616, although there is no reference of this on his MIC. He is recorded as having served with the 8th Battalion and died of wounds received at home on the 7th July 1918.
