    About this item

A quite beautiful example of a Kreigsmarine ships clock by Kieninger & Obergfell. Standard on all Kriegsmarine vessels, including U Boats, these clocks have a brass case, originally painted black but most usually, as is the case here, with the paint later removed for appearance purposes.

The clock runs well and keeps good time. It will arrive in good working condition but as with any vintage mechanical clock I am unable to offer a long term guarantee as all old clocks will need a service from time to time. It’s original key is included.

The silvered dial is in excellent condition with slight loss to the silvering over the eagle. Fortunately, no damage has be done to the eagle itself. All markings are of course guaranteed original and show the clock to have been issued to the North Sea Fleet with the number, N18818.

The case back carries the serial number 15755, the last two digits 55 appearing on the hinge and lock of the glass opening window.

The clock is without damage, the with just one small dent to the underside which can just be made out in the pictures.

I am a vocal critic of those who sell fakes of these clocks at some of the fairs around the UK and on eBay, most of which originate from a Glaswegian fraudster living in Edinburgh. Naturally this example is guaranteed absolutely original and will be accompanied by a certificate of authenticity if required.
