About this item
A very good working example of the British Verner’s Pattern Mk V111 Prismatic Marching Compass complete with its correct leather case and neck strap. A name written in ink on the case is possibly Maxwell, Royal Dublin Fusiliers.
Dated 1917 on Compass itself, this is an issue piece the reverse of the Compass bearing the manufacture’s name Baker & Son London along with the War Department arrow and date.
All functions appear to operate well including the locking buttons whilst the dry compass card rotates freely to give what still appears to be an accurate reading. There is no evidence of damage.
The case is in very good condition, clearly marked with the WD. All stitching and the closure strap are also in very condition as is the neck strap. A further loop strap appears to have been removed from the case
A nice complete example.
