About this item
A very scarce Great War Presentation 1897 Pattern Infantry Officers Sword to Sidney John Brown 14th Manchester Regiment.
The sword is maker marked at the ricasso "Batson London", along with two etched panels to either side of the blade detailing the presentation. They read "Presented by Friends at the Consitutional Club and Junior Constitutional Club, Lincoln, June 23rd 1915." and "Sidney John Brown 2nd Lieutenant 14th (Service) Battn The Manchester Regiment". The blade is also etched with the usual floral swags and crowned GRV cypher.
The sword comes in very good untouched condition, and is housed in its correct brown leather field service scabbard.
I have not had time to research Lieutenant Brown's service or the reason behind the presentation, so plenty for the new owner to sink thier teeth into by way of research.
Strictly over 18's only. Photo ID will be required before this item can be dispatched.
