About this item
A nice displayable pair of Luftwaffe Model 295 Windschutzbrille Flying Goggles complete with aluminium storage case, three compete sets of lenses and a card storage box without lid. Also included is a nice period postcard of a crew member wearing a pair of these goggles.
The Goggles themselves are in very good condition with tinted lenses fitted. The rubber remains supple with just one split either side on the inside only at the extreme outer edges of the of the lenses and one predominantly surface split at the nose. The frames are very good, the upper edges marked OW ( O. Wagner & Co. of Rathenow) which suggests a mis-match to the case. The headband is intact but has lost elasticity.
The aluminium case is for a pair of 295 goggles by Deyea and is dated 19 October 1936. The oval central compartment for the spare lenses is not present and the lid shows considerable denting. Both plates are in place.
There is a spare set of clear lenses and a pair of tinted lenses, both in very good condition and in their protective sleeves.
