RAF C-type flying helmet, early pattern
Size not marked but would estimate it to be a '3', stores reference 22c/451. The leather is in reasonable overall condition. Most of the right side and centre panels are very good, supple and undamaged. Sadly the left side has some surface peel/cracks and loss of chroming as seen in the photographs. Fitted with 4 goggle straps in good condition and the press studs retain most of their original coating. The Bennett buckle has lost a little of the leather sheathing but is quite good and the chinstrap is complete with metal end tip. The rubber receiver carriers are both excellent but appear to be quality replacements. Fairly light even soiling to the lining but no damage. A handwritten message in the crown of the lining reads ' I do love you so much darling Marion xxx.' Sold unwired. Stock code H22255.
