About this item
An original British Army officer's Jungle Green bush jacket dating from the 1950s and in good condition.
This pattern of bush jacket was popular during the 1940s and 1950s for officers serving in the Far East. This example is made from a lightweight cotton drill and features pleated breast pockets with scalloped pocket flaps and bellows pockets to the skirt. The jacket has long sleeves which end in a barrel cuff which fasten with a single button and epaulettes are located to the shoulders. The jacket has been starched for smartness giving it a slightly stiff feel. This can of course be washed out.
The jacket will fit a 38" chest and when laid flat measures -
Chest - 21 1/2"
Inside arm - 17 1/4"
Outside arm - 24 1/2"
Shoulders - 17 1/2"
Length - 32 1/2"
The jacket is in good condition for its age with signs of previous wear and use. There are two holes above the left breast pocket where a badge has previously been fitted - most likely medal ribbons or possibly a wing. It displays well but please take time to study the pictures and bear in mind that this is a pre-worn, vintage item.
A nice original 1950s bush jacket!
