    About this item

An original example of a 'Blouses Mens CD.20' dated 1952 and in a large size 15.

This pattern of battledress first saw use with the Civil Defence and ARP in the early part of the Second World War and continued to see service well into the 1960s. This example is clearly dated 1952 but the pattern is the same as those issued in the early part of the Second World War. It is made from a very dark blue coloured wool serge material and features black plastic buttons throughout, save for the epauletes which are black plastic King's crown Civil Defence examples.

The original label is still present inside the jacket and is bright and legible. It bears the size of 15 as well as the maker's name of 'Antrim MFG Co. Ltd' and the 1952 date.

The jacket is designed to fit a 39" - 41" chest and a 36" - 38" waist. When laid flat it measures -

    Chest - 23 1/2"
    Waist - 18 1/2"
    Inside arm - 19"
    Outside arm - 25 1/2"
    Shoulders - 18"
    Length - 22"

The jacket is in reasonable condition for its age but does have a small hole to the top of the left sleeve and another to the cuff, both of which are illustrated in the pictures. Please take time to study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that this is a vintage, pre-owned item which may have small flaws commensurate with age.

A nice example in a large size and with a good, clear label.
