    About this item

An original 1956 Dated Royal Air Force Ordinary Airman's Tunic in a size No 7.

Whilst this tunic is dated 1956 it is identical to those worn throughout the Second World War by all RAF airmen up to the rank of Flight Sergeant as both a working dress and a walking out uniform.

This particular example features brass King's crown RAF buttons throughout and post-war pattern eagle badges to the top of each sleeve.

Inside the jacket retains its original issue label which states the size as No. 7 which is designed to fit a 35-36" chest and 32" waist. Below this is the 1956 date and the War Department broad arrow as well as the maker's name of 'H. Lottery & Co Ltd'. Adjacent to the label there is a War Department acceptance stamp which is surmounted by the letter 'T' which confirms 1956 as the year of issue.

When laid flat the tunic measures -

    Chest - 19"
    Waist - 16"
    Inside arm - 19"
    Outside arm - 25"
    Shoulders - 15 1/2"
    Length - 30"

The tunic is in good condition for its age and overall displays well. It looks like it may be an un-issued example and is still a nice deep colour as it would have been when made and is not washed out or faded. Please take time to study the pictures before purchasing as this is a vintage item with small issues commensurate with age.

This could suit a reenactor or collector well and will make a good stand-in for a war dated example.
