About this item
An original French commercially made lizard camouflage combat jacket dating from the 1980s.
This jacket is based on the classic French TAP parachutists smock and whilst not made as part of a military contract it appears to have been potentially used by a member of the military as there has been a shield shaped badge fitted to the left sleeve previously (picture 7). The jacket is made from cotton drill like the originals and features a screen printed camouflage pattern which is instantly recognisable as 'Lizard Pattern'. Like the original smock it features four patch pockets to the front which all fasten with three press studs to each flap which is a notable design feature of the TAP smock. The left breast pocket features a zip pocket which fastens with a brass zipper which is maker marked 'GSK'. The main zip is also metal and the puller bears the maker's name of 'Rose'. Inside the jacket there is a small white label fitted to the neck.
The jacket is a smaller size which will suit around a 36" chest depending on desired fit. When laid flat it measures -
Chest - 21 1/2"
Inside arm - 23 1/2"
Outside arm - 23 1/2"
Shoulders - 18 1/2"
Length at back - 29"
The jacket is in good condition overall and displays well with some limited signs of wear and use. There are no serious flaws or damage but please take time to study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that this is a vintage, pre-owned item which may have small flaws commensurate with age.
A nice original commercially made jacket in a classic camouflage print.
