Original British Army Denim Battledress Blouse
The original label is no longer present inside the jacket meaning it is impossible to date accurately. This pattern ran from approximately 1942 until the late 1950s and will therefore date from this period.
The jacket features butterscotch coloured revolving shank buttons which are held on with period split rings to the reverse. The waist fastens with a wartime period steel buckle. The epaulettes have been removed which is quite a common modification. This was allegedly done by tank crews as the epaulettes would snag inside tanks and other armoured fighting vehicles.
When laid flat the jacket measures -
Chest - 23"
Waist - 18"
Inside arm - 17 1/2"
Outside arm - 23 1/2"
Shoulders - 17 3/4"
Length - 21 1/2"
The jacket is in good condition with some signs of wear or use. It displays very well and has plenty of wear and life left in it but is a vintage, pre-owned item which may have small issues commensurate with age. Please study the pictures before purchasing.
All in all, a nice original British denim battledress blouse!
