    About this item

An original British Army 'Smock Windproof Orange R & I Training' dating from the early 1980s and in good, used condition.

The contract number dates this smock to having been made between 1979 and 1985. The design is very similar to the Windproof Cadet Smock and was made by a manufacturer who also made cadet smocks. The smock is a one piece garment made from a tightly woven cotton. It features a hood, lower patch pockets and a large chest pocket which fastens with velcro. The cuffs feature an integral elasticated storm cuff and the opening at the neck fastens with an 'NZ' branded zipper. The original drawstring is still present to the waist and passes through brass eyelets. There is also a strap inside the smock which can be fastened between the wearer's legs to aid in windy conditions.

Inside the jacket the original label is still present and is bright and legible. The size is marked as small and the manufacturer's name of 'J. Compton Sons & Webb' is also present. The contract number of CT4B/804 is below this and dates the smock to the early 1980s.

The smock will suit a smaller build and when laid flat measures -

    Chest - 21 1/2"
    Inside arm - 18 1/2"
    Outside arm - 24 1/2"
    Shoulders - 19 1/4"
    Length - 29"

The smock is in good wearable condition as can be seen in the pictures. It shows signs of wear and use with some limited soiling and marks etc. Overall it is still very wearable but please study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that this is a pre-worn, vintage item.

A striking piece of British military clothing with a great label and some great details.
