For sale is a Pre WW1 Royal Navy Reserve Long Service & Good Conduct Medal To Seaman 1st class W Burns. This medal is engraved on the rim “D 2586 W Burns Sea n 1cl rnr”.William burns was born on the 2nd of March 1864 in Macduff Banff, but lived in Sunderland. He enlisted into the Royal Navy reserve on the 31st December 1885. This medal was issued on the 9th of November 1911. The Reserve Long Service and Good Conduct Medal was the Long Service Medal of the reserve forces of the Royal Navy. The medal was presented for 15 or 12 years of service by Petty Officers and ratings of the Royal Naval Reserve, Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve, Royal Naval Auxiliary Sick Berth Reserve, Royal Fleet Reserve, and Royal Naval Wireless Auxiliary Reserve. Established in 1909, the medal was replaced by the Volunteer Reserves Service Medal. Accompanying this medal is 3 scans of his service records.
