Awarded to Private George H. S. Redmayne serving with the 3rd Battalion The East Lancashire Regiment. King South Africa, Clasps South Africa 1901 & South Africa 1902 (9997 PTE. G. REDMAYNE. E. LANC. REGT.) Born in Lancashire, 4 Albert Plance in Lancaster and enlisting into the British Army at 17 years of age. Served in the Boar War Campaign in South Africa. Awarded the Kings South Africa medal for his participation in this campaign with both clasps South Africa 1901 and 1902. Both clasps are confirmed in medal roll. Private H. S. Redmayne is also entitled the the Queen South Africa medal. Both medals awarded whilst serving with the 3rd Battalion East Lancashire Regiment. Further copied papers WWI MIC and Rolls show that Private George H. S. Redmayne also served in the late Rifle Brigade later Labour Corps. Papers show he received the Silver Wound Badge and discharged 17th September 1919, ending his military career in the British Army. (with copy service papers, medal rolls & MIC.)
