An original Defence Medal, with short length of original ribbon and box. The box is addressed to Mrs E. J. Aves, 41 Sherbourne Crescent, Holyhead Road, Coventry.

We have been able to determine using the 1939 England and Wales Register that the medal was awarded to Elsie J Aves (nee Hall), who in 1939 was living at 128 Rowland Avenue, Coventry, with her parents, Frank and Florence Hall. She is noted here as serving in the Medical Dept of the Coventry A.R.P.
