For sale is a Post WW2 United States Boxed Miniature Silver Star Medal. This is in good condition and comes with its original box.
Originally authorised on 9th July 1918 as a citation star, it was re-designated as a medal on 8th August 1932. The third highest award in the USA, subsequent awards are represented by bronze oakleaves. this decoration is awarded for gallantry in action against an enemy of the United States. In 1932 the medal was made retrospective and could be awarded for acts of gallantry dating as far back as the Spanish American war of 1898.
