Awarded to Petty Officer Robert William Holburn serving with His Majesties Royal Navy. Royal Naval Long Service & Good Conduct (Geo V) Coinage Head (J.8034 R. W. HOLBURN P.O. H.M.S. VICTORY) Born on the 24th November 1894 in Alverstoke in Hampshire. On enlisting in the Royal Naval his occupation is shown as “Greenwich School Boy”. Joining as a Boy Sailor on the 24th November 1912, training at HMS Ganges.
Seeing service on many naval land bases and naval vessels. Serving on HMS Barham joining her on the 10th August 1915. HMS Barham a Queen Elizabeth class battleship of approx 33,790 tons. Records show that PO Robert W Holburn saw action at the battle of Jutland. (with copy service record & medal rolls)
