    For sale is a WW1 British War Medal KIA At Somme John Anderson 2nd Battalion Auckland Regiment.

      This medal is engraved “24/1584 Pte J Anderson NZEF”.    John Anderson was born in Carnbo, Kinross, Scotland, and was of British nationality. His trade on enlistment was a ploughman. During WW1 he serviced with the 2nd Battalion Auckland regiment NZEF, and the 2nd New Zealand Rifle Brigade.   Unfortunately whilst serving with the 2nd New Zealand Rifle Brigade on the 20th September 1916 John was killed in action at the battle of the Somme.    John was remembered and named on the following memorials; Caterpillar Valley (New Zealand) Memorial, Caterpillar Valley Cemetery, Longueval, Somme, France AWMM Auckland War Memorial Museum, World War 1 Hall of Memories AWMM.   His embarkation details are as followed; WW1 8 January 1916 AwMM from AwMM to Suez, Egypt AWMM HMNZT 38 or HMNZT 39 AWMM Vessel was Tahiti or Warrimoo AWMM Rifleman AWMM 3rd Reinforcements, 2nd Battalion, F Company aWMM New Zealand Rifle Brigade AWMM.    Accompanying this medal is 7 scans of his service records.
