WW1 Victory Medal To Wounded Pte W Butler South Lancashire Regiment

For sale is a WW1 Victory Medal To Wounded Pte W Butler who served with the South Lancashire Regiment. Accompanying this victory medal is his cap badge and shoulder title badge. 

  This ww1 victory medal is engraved on the rim “12311 Pte. W. Butler. S. LAN.R”.   William butler was born in 1896, and lived a 2 Phillips place, James Street in swansea. Upon enlistment Williams occupation was a Swansea harbour firefighter for two years. His description upon enlistment was this he had brown hair, brown eyes, 5ft 6inches tall. Upon enlisting William was 18 years 40 days old.   William enlisted into the British army and served with the 2nd and the 3rd Lancashire regiment. He enlisted on the 29th of august 1914. He entered the France theatre of war on the 22nd of June 1915 until 21st of October 1915, he was then transfered back home until his discharge in the 8th of August 1917.    Whilst serving in France William was wounded in action twice and entitled to wear a wound stripe. He was wounded on the 25th September 1915 and the on the 30th august 1916. From one of these occasions he lost his site in his right eye.    William was awarded a ww1 victory medal, war medal, 1914-15 star and a wound badge that was numbered 262314. Unfortunately only the victory medal is present from his awards.    Accompanying this medal is eleven scans of his service records.
