About this item
A very good example of the 1887 MK1 Martini Henry Sword Bayonet with “stepped” crossguard
The MK1 has a fullered blade, and has the grips attached by four rivets. The bayonet is WD marked at the ricasso, along with Enfield inspection markings. It is dated /86
The leather grips are original and retain their chequering. The release catch functions as it should. The blade is near excellent with no damage and remains full length.
The scabbard is no less pleasing. The mounts are plated brass with the plating still intact and not polished off as most seem to be. The scabbard itself is black leather and in excellent condition, free from damage and with the stitching all firm and intact.
A particularly nice example of the type and one that would prove difficult to upgrade.
