About this item
An unissued and virtually mint example of a German army 1941 dated Tropical Rucksack.
Although this pattern was to become the standard for use in all theaters later in the war, the original design was intended for tropical use and the early date of this piece clearly indicates it was planned for the Afrika Korps.
Constructed in a robust green canvas it has two front pockets each closed by a flap and webbing strap with a steel-clad tip stamped LUX. A large flap covers the opening to the bag itself and has an identical strap.
Inside, there are two flapped pockets, the flaps closed with dished steel zinc buttons. The bag itself is secured by means of green cotton cord drawn through eyelets. The manufacture’s stamp and date remain clear.
There are four hooks on the back to attach to equipment straps and two D rings at the back of the closure flap. A large protruding D ring is for storage in a transport vehicle.
It would be impossible to upgrade this excellent example.
