A 1943 dated Kangol Wear Ltd. Beret worn by Captain M.E.B. Scott of the Royal Army Ordnance Corps.
A large size 7 ¼ the Beret is in very good condition with no sign of moth or other damage. The RAOC badge appears to be a bronze collar badge which Captain Scott has utilised, the badge sitting on a red wool background and help in place with two fixing posts and sprung pin. There two enamelled eyelets backed with a black leather protective patch and a brown leather trim round the lower edge.
Inside, the lining is in very good condition, clearly marked and dated and with a WD inspector’s stamp and N for 1943. The loose hand stitching for the stiffener remains in place and Capt. Scott has applied a named patch at the back by the bow. He was promoted to temporary Captain at the end of November 1944.
Overall, a very nice Beret in a large size.
