R.E.)  The 178th Tunnelling Company (Mining Units), nicknamed “the Moles”. Sapper Albert Rawlinson served as part of a force of 269 sappers in the Fricourt Sector of the Somme as part of the spring offensive. The British War Medal and Victory Medal is his only medal entitlement according to the medal index card. (with copy MIC, medal roll and service papers).
