About this item
Rather interesting group of six awarded to Corporal Arthur Brown of the 2/15th London Regiment. Serving in military and civil services covering both first and second world war. Order of St John’s Serving Officer Breast Badge, British War Medal &Victory Medal (4344 CPL. A. BROWN. 15-LONDON. R.), Jubilee Medal 1935, Defence Medal 1939-45 and Service Medal Order of St John’s, with three 5 year Service Bars. (24180 D/SUPT. A. BROWN. No.8 DIST. S.J.A.B. 1941.). Records show he enlisted on the 4th August 1915 with the 15th (County of London) Battalion London Regiment. (P.W.O. Civil Service Rifles). Records show Cpl Athur Brown embarked to France on the 22nd June 1916 to 21st November 1916, Then embarked to Salonica 22nd November 1916 serving until 19th June 1917. His records indicates he was sent to Egypt serving from 20th June 1917 to June 1918, It is noted that the medal roll indicates he with his regiment may of seen service in German South West Africa. The records then show his regiment was sent as part of the British Expeditionary Force sent back to France on the 18th June 1918 to 23rd June 1918. He then embarked for home from the 23rd June 1918. Cpl Arthur Brown’s medal group included the Jubilee Medal 1935. Further medals include the Order of St John’s Serving Officers Breast Badge. Then he was awarded the Order of St John’s Serving Officers Breast Badge. This was followed by the Defence Medal1939-45 covering his service as Deputy Superintendent No 8 District in 1941. Awarded Service Medal Order of St John’s with a further three 5 year service bars. Roll for Jubilee Medal 1935 are available from the PRO at Kew. (with copy MIC, medal roll and attestation papers etc)
