A British Military Police Other Ranks Service Dress Cap with cover
Constructed with a one-piece circular crown with stiffening wire, four-piece body with seams at each side, front and back. At each side are a pair of painted brass grommet ventilation holes.
A brown leather chin strap, with a pair of sliding buckles, is held in place by a pair of small brass General Service buttons.
A Kings Crown cap badge to the Military Police is attached by a slider.
Inside both sweatband and liner are in a black oilcloth, the crown with the makers, Compton Sons & Webb Ltd and size 6 3/8. The date has been carefully erased and the WD inspectors stamp under the sweat band is either a Z (1945) or more likely even an X (1959)
In place is the red cotton cover of the Military Police.
Overall condition is very good, perhaps unissued condition but I am unable to guarantee the date of the cap as pre 1946.
