    Awarded to 2nd Lieutenant William James Irwin serving with the Army Service Corps. British War Medal and Victory Medal (2.LIEUT. J.W. IRWIN.). Records indicate recipient originally held the rank of Colour Sergeant Major whilst with the Army Service Corps seeing service in France. He entered French Theatre of Operations on the 2nd October 1915. Medal Index Card indicated change of rank to Second Lieutenant. His commission as temporary Second Lieutenant is recorded in the London on the 17th June 1915.The MIC also indicates he was also entitled to a 1914 Star. (with copy Medal index card and London Gazette 17/06/15).
