1914 Star, Mons clasp group awarded to 15142 Private Daniel Francis Murphy of the 2nd Battalion. Grenadier Guards. 1914 Star with “5th Aug – 22nd Nov. 1914” Mons Clasp (15142 Pte. D.F. Murphy. 2/G.GDS), British War Medal, (15142. Pte. D.F. Murphy. G.GDS) and Victory Medal, (15142. Pte. D.F. Murphy. G.GDS.) Enlisted in the Army 27th February 1911 in St. Agustines, Bristol , Gloucester. Joined aged 20 years at the time recipient's trade was a fireman. Papers note mobilisation was 5th August 1914 serving in the European theatre of operations. Whilst on active service recipient was wounded left arm, near heart. Discharged, no longer physically fit for service, 20th November 1917. Noted as receiving Silver Wound Badge in service record.* Medal entitlement confirmed for all medals on attestation papers.(with copy MIC for 1914 Star and attestation service papers).
