    About this item

For sale is a Rare WW1 Guide For The 303 Vickers Machine Gun It’s Mechanism & Drill 1915 Handbook.

This handbook is titled:    “Guide For The 303 Vickers Machine Gun It’s Mechanism & Drill with questions & answers printed & published by Gale & Polden Ltd, London Aldershot & Portsmouth”.    This is a first edition and was printed in 1915.   The preface states:   “This little work, having been compiled with considerable care, will, it is hoped, prove a useful pocket companion to many who are called upon to use the Machine Gun. It is written in the popular form of Questions and Answers, thus enabling the student to learn the gun thoroughly with at least half the study. Plates showing the component parts of the gun have been added and will be found of the utmost assistance in learning their names and descriptions, thus simplifying a most important part of the knowledge required, in fact it can well be termed "The Machine Gun Made Easy." 1915.”   These handbooks don’t often come up for sale! Unfortunately there is some damage to the spine cover which can be seen in the photos for more details. This will be sent via Royal Mail 1st class signed for and dispatched within two working days.
