About this item
RAF aircraft Navigator's Bag stores reference 4B/469.This example is unusual, being stamped with "236 OCU" and "22", which I assume to signify Bag No. 22 of 236 Operational Conversion Unit. Presumably, the bags were issued to OCU aircrew and retrieved at the end of the course. Number 236 OCU was formed in July 1947 and operated a variety of aicraft types including the Lancaster and the Oxford out of Kinloss. The OCU was disbanded in September 1956.
