About this item
For sale WW2 Royal Air Force 140 Wing Hand Carved Wooden Plate 1942-1947.
This hand carved wooden plate states around the side “Royal Air Force 1942-1947” and then in the centre is the emblem of the royal airforce followed by “140 Wing Gutersloh”. No. 140 Wing RAF was a formation of the Royal Air Force during the Second World War. It comprised No. 21 Squadron RAF, No. 464 (RAAF) Squadron RAF and No. 487 (RNZAF) Squadron RAF. It carried out many notable low-level bombing operations, including Operation Jericho (Amiens prison) and Operation Carthage in Copenhagen. Trench art is any decorative item made by soldiers, prisoners of war, or civilians where the manufacture is directly linked to armed conflict or its consequences. It offers an insight not only to their feelings and emotions about the war, but also their surroundings and the materials they had available to them. These will be sent via Royal Mail Special delivery and dispatched within two working days.Additional Information
