    About this item

A fantastic original Great War period pair of private purchase flying goggles as worn predominantly by Officers in the Royal Flying Corps.

Whilst issue goggles were available in the Great War, many Officers still opted to buy their own goggles and these examples are typical of this.

Featuring two circular eye pieces made from Perspex that are housed inside metal rims and a large leather face piece which is typical of early aviators goggles. A simple elastic strap is fitted with a small hook and eye clasp which is again typical of early goggles.

The goggles are in good condition for their age but the strap has lost nearly all of its elasticity and the metal rims around the eye pieces have a small amount of surface corrosion but this should come off with gentle cleaning. With this in mind the goggles do still display very nicely indeed.

Altogether, a lovely original Great War period pair of goggles which would compliment any RFC collection without a doubt and at a fraction of the cost of an issue pair.
