About this item
Model 24 Stielhandgranate with Fragmentation Sleeve
M24 stick Grenade with a sheet metal construction head with fitted fragmentation sleeve and a lathed, contoured, natural hardwood handle with a magnetic sheet metal fitting to both the top and bottom ends.
The wooden shaft is in very good condition with maker’s stamp and 1940 date along with a WaA stamp. At the base of the shaft the safety cap is in place and unscrews to reveal the spring intended to hold the porcelain ball attached to the pull cord firmly in place. Neither porcelain ball nor cord are present. The shaft unscrews from the head to reveal the threaded opening for a fuse.
A hole has been drilled in the head to remove the charge but the manufacture’s stamp remains along with a 1939 date. Of great importance of course is the rare fragmentation sleeve. This is held in place over the head by three vertical spring clips, closed by a ring which slips down. Two of the lips that close over the base of the head are missing.
Overall condition is very good with virtually all of the factory paint remaining.
The Grenade is completely inert but must be for UK SHIPPING ONLY and the sectioned example shown as the final image is not included.
