Awarded to Sapper Edward Mooney of the Royal Engineers.1914-15 Star, British War Medal, Victory Medal (46277 SPR: E. MOONEY. R.E.) and Indian General Service Medal 1908. Clasp 'Afghanistan N.W.F. 1919'. (46277 SPR. E. C. MOONEY. R.E.). Outbreak of war recipient embarked with his unit to the French theatre of operations on the 21st August 1915. He served through the war to later serve in India as part of the Military Works Services with the Royal Engineers, being awarded his I.G.S.1908 campaign medal in Afghanistan for North West frontier 1919. Medal Index Card indicates he was formerly with the Royal Wiltshire Yeomanry. (with copy MIC & medal roll).
