    About this item

A stunning original 1945 dated British Army Royal Armoured Corps pattern black beret made by 'Kangol'.

This pattern of beret was worn by various armoured units including the RAC and the Royal Tank Regiment. This is a rare example which features the light tan coloured lining which is often associated with Kangol made berets. The crown is made from a black coloured spun wool and a black leather sweatband is fitted around the edge. Two black paint metal eyelets are also present and feature the correct leather backing to the inside.

The original markings are still present and clear to the interior. The size of 6 3/4 is marked as is the 1945 date. The maker's name 'Kangol Wear Ltd' is also present as is the War Department broad arrow. As well as this there is a War Department Acceptance stamp which is surmounted by the letter 'L'. There is also a paper cutters tag which would suggest that the beret has never been worn.

The beret is in excellent, unworn condition. There are no signs of previous use or wear and it displays extremely well.

A textbook example of this pattern of beret in excellent condition. It would certainly be hard to better and even features the very rare light coloured interior!
