About this item
An original WW2 British Army Field Service Cap in good condition which dates from the first half of the Second World War.
This pattern of cap came into issue with the British Army shortly before the beginning of the Second World War and saw use throughout the conflict. It was replaced by the General Service Cap in 1943 but remains an iconic piece of British Headwear from the Second World War today.
The cap is made from the standard khaki green barathea wool and features two brass General Service buttons to the front. The interior is lined with a khaki coloured cotton and the only marking present is a War Department acceptance stamp. This does not feature the letter code which denotes the year although this is quite often encountered on early war made items.
The cap measures 10 1/2" along the opening so should fit a size 7 1/8 well.
The cap is in very good condition as can be seen in the pictures. There are signs of wear and use along with some soiling to the interior. Please study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that this is a pre-owned vintage item.
Altogether a nice cap that would make a good addition to a collection or could suit a reenactor.
