    About this item

A fine WW2 period “Regulation Army Officers Service Cap” for summer use.

The Cap is constructed I believe in the standard 7.8oz. plain weave Khaki Rayon rather than the cotton Khaki often chosen for those visiting an approved tailor to purchase such uniform items.

This example has the desirable two part leather chinstrap extending around the entire Cap band, supported at the back with a vertical hook and with a buckle on the right side allowing the rear part of the chinstrap to be lowered and adjusted under the chin. At each side are regulation gilded screw post buttons. The peak or visor is leather.

The Cap Badge retains most of the original gilding and is the screw back type, sitting well on the unmarked Khaki top.

Inside, the sweatband is without damage but has slight loss of stitching at the front, the rear showing the size 7 ¼ and the stores reference. The sweat shield is in place as is the removable tubular brim support.

Overall condition is very good with no staining and no damage.
