About this item
An original 1943 dated British Army MKII Haversack for the lightweight respirator.
This pattern of bag was introduced alongside the new lightweight respirator in 1943. It is made from a dark green cotton canvas which has good waterproof qualities and features a webbing tab to close it. Side pockets are also present and fasten with press studs whilst another pocket can be found inside the bag which is fitted with an original period set of eye shields.
Inside the bag bears the manufacturer's initials of 'J. H. & Co (W) Ltd and the 1943 date. Crucially this example has not been overstamped with dutch markings post-war like so many others offered on the market. The strap also features the maker's stamp and date.
The condition of the bag is good with only limited signs of wear and use.
A nice original wartime haversack which would make a great addition to any collection.
