Old Style USMC Officers Sterling Silver Cap Badge

A quite beautiful example of the old style US Marine Corps Officer’s Dress Cap badge in Sterling Silver.

Known as the EGA (Eagle Globe and Anchor) cap badge it depicts the early eagle over the globe and ancho, the anchor in gilded silver.

The reverse has “Sterling” raised from the casting, a maker’s mark and perhaps 582. Further stamps are visible on the screw post which is complete with its securing nut. The pin to stop the badge from rotating is still present.
