An original private purchase French Army officer's side cap in good condition.
This cap is made from a light coloured gabardine material which has a fleck, salt and pepper type look to it. The front of the cap features rank braid which denotes the original owner's rank as Lieutenant. The interior of the cap is lined in cotton and there is a leather sweatband. The original owner has added a name tag which reads 'P. Walther' and he has also marked his initials to the leather sweatband. The sweatband is now brittle and broken in numerous places.
The cap will suit around a size 6 7/8 head.
The overall condition of the cap is good and it displays very well. There is a small split to the rear but this could easily be repaired. It displays well but please take time to study the pictures before purchasing.
A nice original Phoney War period officer's uniform item which would suit an early war collector well.
