An interesting original Royal Air Force officer's field service cap which appears to be American made.
This cap is of the same pattern and design as the standard RAF officer's side cap worn throughout the Second World War but is made from a lighter shade of blue wool than is normally seen and features man made materials for the lining and sweatband which are typical of 1940s American made items and very different to British or colonial made. The cap is fitted with an original brass officers pattern cap badge and two brass buttons to the front. There are no labels inside the cap but it is a good size which will fit a 7 1/8 size head well and measures 10 3/4" along the opening when laid flat.
The cap is in fine condition with no serious signs of wear or age. It displays very well but please take time to study the pictures before purchasing.
A rare original wartime cap which would make an excellent addition to any collection.
